Construction has begun on a new playground at Keflavík Airport
The new playground is inspired by the whimsical world of Tulipop and will hopefully make the airport a more fun and engaging place its youngest visitors. The new playground will be located near Aðalstræti, the newly constructed restaurant area at the entrance to the second floor of the airport’s new east wing. In the same area, visitors will also find interactive play equipment, including the iWallby Finnish company CSE Entertainment.
The playground is a collaboration between Tulipop, the design team ÞYKJÓ, and IRMA design studio. While Tulipop’s enchanting Adventure World is familiar to many in Iceland, the company itself was founded in 2010 by designers Signý Kolbeinsdóttir and Helga Árnadóttir. The brand is known for its vibrant, magical universe filled with playful and quirky characters. Its most ambitious project to date is a 52-episode animated series, which has enjoyed significant popularity.
Installation of the playground will take several days and is expected to open later this month.
