New Airport Baggage Handling System

Although tourism has not yet fully recovered, Keflavik International Airport is mostly back to a steady pace. In September, roughly 326 thousand passengers passed through the airport.

In fact, the airport was buzzing with life when a journalist and photographer recently visited the premises. Maren Lind Másdóttir, the Director of Assets and Infrastructure at Isavia, the service company which owns and handles the operation of the airport, welcomed us.

Replacement of Old Equipment in the Airport’s Buzzing Environment

Maren now oversees the large and challenging task of updating the airport’s luggage systems. The task is urgent, as new EU legislation has called for the renewal of the so-called Explosive Detection System (EDS) machines, intended to ensure the safety of passengers and planes taking off from Keflavik International Airport.
