East Wing Apron ORAT Tested

Today, a so-called ORAT test was conducted on the apron area near the terminal's new east wing. The goal was to ensure that all processes and equipment were ready for the opening of the east wing to passengers.
First, snow was cleared from the airport's apron, and then two aircraft taxied to stands 80L and 80R by the east wing.
Guidance equipment and connections to gangways were tested, as well as ground anchors. Then, procedures for fueling, loading and unloading baggage were tested, as well as the use of staircars and passenger vehicles in the area. Finally, both aircraft underwent a de-icing process.
"It has gone very well here, we have had active participation and good cooperation from the various parties from the airport community. Such comprehensive testing and run-through of new infrastructure is only possible when everyone takes an active part in the whole process," says Böðvar Schram, ORAT specialist in structures and infrastructure at Isavia.
