KEF velcomes university students
Thirty university students from the University of Iceland visited Keflavík Airport last month to learn about the various jobs involved in expanding the Keflavík Airport.

Isavia, which is responsible for the operation and development of Keflavík Airport, and the British construction and consulting company Mace hosted the visit. The university students were particularly interested in the diverse jobs available at the airport.
During the visit, the students visited, among other places, the workplaces of Isavia and Mace at Keflavík Airport, and at the end of the visit, Brynjar Vatnsdal and Jóhannes Bjarni Bjarnason, department managers at Isavia, presented the operation and all the opportunities the jobs have to offer.

It is a pleasure to welcome such a great group of university students on a visit to Keflavík Airport and to introduce them to the various ongoing projects there. Major projects are ahead that will completely transform the airport. These changes will not only allow more passengers to pass through the airport, but the goal is also to improve the entire passenger experience, from arrival to departure. The airport is always looking for good people, so it was fun to present the opportunities to this group.
The visit was part of the University of Iceland’s Career Days 2024. The development and construction of Keflavík Airport is an extensive project that affects the environment, the community, and the local economy as a whole.
To ensure that sustainability is at the forefront in all aspects of the development of the airport, Isavia has developed a special sustainability framework for the projects, based on the company’s sustainability policy. Targeted cooperation with the local community is an important part of the sustainability framework, with an emphasis on having a positive impact on the local community and being an active participant in it. Emphasis has been placed on active dialogue with institutions and organizations in the local area, on how to empower individuals there for employment, where mutual sharing of knowledge and experience is of vital importance.
