New Airport Exit Road Opens
Improved traffic flow and enhanced safety around the terminal

A new exit road from the airport area will open shortly after noon on Thursday, 27 November at Keflavík Airport, providing a smoother and safer way to leave the airport.
The new road creates an additional exit route from the airport area. It also marks the first step in developing the circular junction, a key improvement designed to enhance both safety and traffic flow in line with growing airport operations.
Until now, the road in front of the terminal building ended at the arrivals area, where vehicles enter and exit the P2 car park. The new road continues from that point, extending northeast toward Reykjanesbraut.
This change is designed to reduce traffic in front of the terminal and eliminate the need for vehicles to cross active traffic lanes. Service traffic, such as construction vehicles and deliveries, will also use a separate access route to the terminal.
With this opening, the first phase of the circular junction project is complete. Construction has been underway since spring 2025.
