Work on the design of the first phase of the connecting building between the north and south buildings of the airport terminal is progressing well, and the connecting building is the next major phase in the development of Keflavík Airport.

This new building has been called the new heart of the airport, and when it is complete it will house a new food court, waiting area and bus gate.

The new, bright central space will create a better connection between the north and south buildings of the terminal. The gangway will be widened, and the facilities for arriving passengers will be improved with passport control, a new duty-free area and increased service space. Gates on the gangway will also be upgraded with a larger waiting area.
