Isavia Presented the ORAT Approach to The New National Hospital‘s Staff.

Experts from Isavia recently visited staff at The New National Hospital at Hringbraut to introduce the ORAT approach. The approach has been used by Isavia for around a decade and has proven highly effective in projects related to the expansion of Keflavík International Airport, where it has, among other things, contributed to improved planning, enhanced safety, and clearer operational procedures.
ORAT has not previously been applied in the construction of The New National Hospital, and the purpose of the meeting was to introduce the approach to engineers from NLSH and explore whether it could be useful in the continued implementation and preparation for operations.
At the introductory meeting, Isavia’s experts provided an in-depth overview of the key elements of ORAT, its benefits, and the improvement opportunities it offers for large and complex projects. Participants also gained insight into how ORAT has been applied in real-life operational settings at the airport and the lessons learned from that process.
ORAT (Operational Readiness, Activation & Transition) is an internationally recognized approach designed to ensure that facilities, technical systems, processes, and personnel are fully prepared when new premises or new operations are brought into service.
The methodology emphasizes a holistic approach to project management, clear allocation of responsibilities, and systematic testing of all critical elements of a project before operations commence. Isavia and NLSH have enjoyed a strong working relationship in recent years, as both organizations are state-owned and share a common interest in effective knowledge sharing.
